Your activity

Your guided food safari will take you to Hastings' seafront, a local Sussex organic vineyard and a local farm run on ethical principles, as well as hunting for local wild food. We will take you on a trip through Sussex's picturesque countryside and villages to gather local ingredients for your evening meal (with a choice of a meat, fish or vegetarian main course) to be prepared for you by a top local chef.

The food safari will give you an insight into local environmentally-sensitive fishing and farming methods, not to mention the thrill of tasting fresh, seasonal food from Sussex's rich larder.

  • Hastings’ historic 'Stade' (Saxon term for 'landing place') from which the fishing fleet launches: Buy fish and chat about the beach-launched fleet and Hastings' MSC ecolabel fish.
  • Wild food hunt - search for seasonal wild food.
  • Local produce lunch (not included in cost).
  • Sedlescombe Organic Vineyard – an idyllic setting for a tour and tasting. "Some of the most delicious English Wines I have ever tasted" Jancis Robinson (Master of Wine).
  • Visit an ethical farm in the Sussex countryside.
  • Wine tasting of local Sussex wines back at your hotel and a chance to freshen up before dinner.
  • A delicious evening meal (of your choice from the menu) at a top local restaurant, made from the food you have collected during the day!
