Your activity
 

Your break has been designed for you to be a pleasurable experience from the moment you set off, including taking the stress out of your journey!

Join the sleeper train in the evening and settle down for a soothing sleep while you speed through the night to Scotland. Wake up the next morning in Glasgow where a taxi will take you to your hire car. This is arranged through Avis and the associated carbon dioxide emissions will be offset along with the rest of the environmental impact of your travel and stay.

Full directions and a map ensure a painless short drive to your accommodation. Once here, choose from the many delights of the region, using your Discovery Information as your guide and your hire car to get around. (See below for information on ‘Your Destination’).

Your accommodation
 

East Lochhead farmhouse and stone outbuildings have been carefully restored to high quality, award-winning accommodation. You will stay in one of six high delightful cottages set around a central courtyard. For descriptions of each cottage click here.

The property is set within twenty-five acres of organic farmland. Guests are encouraged to enjoy the two acres of beautiful gardens. Your host, Janet, is an enthusiastic and qualified cook who prepares delicious home-made meals, often featuring East Lochhead lamb, beef and home-grown vegetables and fruits. Janet has carefully chosen a selection of organic wines to compliment her cooking. Vegetarian, vegan and special diets are also catered for.

Experience the cosmopolitan attractions of Glasgow, the European City of Culture in 1990 and the UK's City of Architecture and Design in 1999, or visit Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park (www.clydemuirshiel.co.uk), which offers a variety of walks and visitor centres in landscapes ranging from coast and forests, to open moorland.

Lochwinnoch village, (www.lochwinnoch.info) just a mile away from your accommodation, has survived as an unspoiled village in well wooded rolling countryside. There is an RSPB Nature Reserve close by and National Cycle Route 7, Glasgow to Carlisle, passes your accommodation. Also, well worth the drive, is the breathtaking New Lanark World Heritage Site.
