is steeped in historical monuments such as the 4th Century Roman
shore fort at Pevensey and the Norman Abbey at Battle built by
William the Conqueror after the 1066 invasion.
- The High Weald AONB - The High Weald is a historic
landscape at the heart of South East England. It is designated
as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) for its rolling
hills, small, irregular fields, abundant woods and hedges, scattered
farmsteads and sunken lanes.
